My apologies, and an update on Lenny

I'm sorry I haven't posted here in a while. Things have been kind of crazy over the last several months, but here's an update on Lenny.

We started him on an insulin-to-carb ratio about 2 weeks ago. So far so good. Everyone that has had to do it so far is really liking it more than what we were doing before, it is so much easier than I thought it would be, and it is a step in the right direction on getting Lenny on the pump. Hopefully within the next month or two we can start him on the pump. I think he is really looking forward to it too. Every morning for the last 2 weeks, he has asked me "Mom, am I getting the pump today" LOL. Too cute. Other than that, since making this change to going to insulin to carb, his levels have been kind of on a roller coaster ride with a few short breaks in between. But, it is slowly getting better. Id say just a few more adjustments then well have it whipped.

As far as the school, he hasnt been back to school since we started him on the insulin to carb ratio. Partly because he was sick at the same time, and partly because we needed to find out what needs done to get his head start school on board with all of this. So, monday I get a phone call from the head nutrition/health lady for his school. She tells me that she talked to someone else that they get feedback on what other public schools do in his case, and they said that they let the parents figure out the dosages of insulin needed to give the child. I told her, fine, as long as the teachers and nurses and anyone else that sits with him at lunch knows how to count carbs because with this, every carb counts. She said, well, if we tell you about how much he ate of what, would you be able to figure out the carbs he had and dose him appropriately. I said I would try, but considering every brand is different, it may be difficult. So, were going to try this out and see how it goes. He goes back to school tomorrow. I also need to call his diabetes educator tomorrow to call in his numbers and make any adjustments needed. When I do that, I think I will be talking to them also about the school to find out if theyve ever heard of a school asking the parents to do this... just so i know that the school isnt trying to put this off on us to avoid any kind of liability issues since that was the first thing my husband said when I told him about this.

Other than that, Lenny is doing well. Still has a bit of a cold yet, which could also be whats causing some of his crazy numbers, but he should get over it soon.

Till next time...

Lenny has had some really great numbers, until.....

Well, Lenny's sugar levels have been great over the last few weeks! On average, he was only having one high and one or two lows a day... WOOHOO! But, then I realized he was going through a growth spurt. So, I called our dietician and told her that he was going through a growth spurt and we increased his carb count for his main meals, however, she told me to wait a few days to see if there is a "pattern" before we changed insulin doses. Since then (which I spoke with her on Tuesday), he has had some good numbers, and some high numbers. No lows though. Really, it truely just depends on his activity level as to if he is going to be high. Like today, he has been super active, so he has had really good numbers over all so far. Yesterday, however, he was having a "lazy day", so he had quite a few highs. I was going to call in his numbers on thursday morning, but now I am thinking we might need to wait it out until Friday. He wont be going to my inlaws house this weekend anyway, because his birthday is on Saturday and they figured we'd wanna spend the weekend with him on his special day/weekend. So, not only are we dedicating the whole weekend to HIM, it will also give us ample time to keep a close eye on his levels/food intake as well.

For his birthday, we have decided to just do something small here at the house because we are all pretty sick, so there wont be a big party like he is wanting. Sorry Lenny! We have also decided to get him some of those little angel food cupcake things that Walmart and other grocery store chains sell, put some colored sugar free Cool Whip, and some No Sugar Added Cherry Pie Filling instead of having a cake. We are figuring that this should be right in around 22-25g. Carbs. He keeps asking for a cake for his birthday, as well as something that flies, a "brand new car" LOL gotta love boys! He also says he wants lots of kids and people at his birthday. Unfortunately, with everyone here being sick, and my MIL having bronchitis, the last part just isn't possible. As far as the "brand new car", I tell him to wait till hes 16, and he says "On Lenny's birthday, Lenny WILL be 16!" LOL. What a little smarty pants!

We took him to the pediatrician's office last week for a 4 year check up. They told me he had a little hearing loss in his left ear, but they said it is probably because he still has fluid in his ears from the double ear infection he had back in February, and when they checked his ears, he had fluid in both of his ears, but his left one was worse. They are going to recheck his ears again in July to see if the fluid has cleared up by then, and if not, then they will suggest having tubes put in his ears. They said that for kids, it can take up to 3 months sometimes for the fluid to completely drain out of the ears, and thats why they arent overly concerned about the fluid at this point in time.

I also mentioned to them a few concerns I had about him. One of them being that even though he has known and recognised his letters and numbers since he was 18 months old (no joke!), he is starting to confuse the numbers 2 and 5 and read the numbers backwards when he reads his sugar level on his meter. My husband said he thinks its just because its digital numbers, but the only time I notice him do it is when his sugar is high, so I'm thinking it might have something to do with his sugar level. The pediatrician said it could be either of those things, or it could just be him being silly doing that to get attention. She said her son used to do stuff like that too at Lenny's age. But, she said, just to be on the safe side, and primarily because he does have diabetes and she knows how diabetes can affect a persons vision, she referred us to a specialty eye doctor to have his eyes checked out. They did do that generic eye exam that most pedi's do in the office with young kids, and he passed that, but thats pictures, not numbers and letters, ya know? Now today, I had him lay down on the floor to give him his lunch time insulin in his leg. I told him to watch Blues Clues while I gave him his pinch, and the entire time I was giving him his pinch, he said he couldnt see the TV. Now, the TV is only about 5 or 6 paces away from where he was laying. That concerns me now. With me having glasses since I was 5, and my husband having glasses since he was 3, I am thinking Lenny, if not both Lenny AND Mackenzie, will have glasses at one point. Here's the kicker. Lennys sugar wasnt high at lunch time. he had a perfect number then! So, what is the reasoning behind that???

We also told them that over the last month or so, he has been complaining of a back ache. I told the doc that I think hes primarily doing it because he hears me and my husband complain about our backs hurting. But, when Lenny does it, and you ask him where does it hurt, he points around his kidney area. I told her although I think he is just mimicking me and my husband, I wanted to express our concerns with it because the last time he complained about his back hurting, head hurting, constant thurst/urnination, etc... it turned out he had diabetes. I didnt want to take any risks or chances with his health this time. She agreed that she thinks he's just mimicking us, but she also agreed that she didnt want to take any chances because she knows how diabetes affects peoples kidneys and other bodily organs, so she set us up with a CT Scan appointment for this coming Friday to get his kidneys checked out. Please keep him in your prayers.

Finally, our final concern was his attitude. Now, I know that his highs and lows have a LOT to do with his behavior. I also know that his age has a lot to do with it to, but when he purposely punches, kicks, hits, and even chokes (yes, i said choke. He has choked Mackenzie) my daughter, and absolutely NO punishment I use works, I need a little help. So, that being said, and after her trying to give us alternative punishment methods that I have already tried and dont work, she refered us to a pediatric psychologist to help us further.

Well, it is time for dinner now, and he is crying for food, so off I go.

Till next time!

When will the crazy numbers end?

If you haven't noticed by the title of this post, Lenny's sugar levels have been crazy. He has been high for weeks now. We have increased his breakfast and lunch insulin doses twice just this week, plus last night I increased his lantus dose to 3 units. Hopefully since we just increased his breakfast and lunch doses again today, SOMETHING will work!

As for the school, I still haven't heard anything back about the status of finding a new dietician. I called the coordinator on friday morning, but had to leave a message and am awaiting her call. I completed Lennys meal plan portions for his lunch and afternoon snack for the month of April and handed that in on Friday morning, however, I need to speak with the coordinator about a few things because I am not sure of some of the things that the kids are having in April.

This weekend he went to my inlaws, like he does every weekend. He had lots of fun, and didnt want to come home (surprise surprise lol). Saturday, I believe it was, they went to Burger King for dinner. My mother in law miscalculated the carbs/starch exchanges for him, and ordered him a hamburger, apple fries, mac n cheese, and chocolate milk from the kids menu. By bedtime snack that night, she called us and said his sugar was over 400. She said they played in the jungle gym area thing for atleast 2 hours so she couldnt figure out why he was still so high. After going on the burger King website, calculating the carb intake that he had from that meal, I found out that he had 99 grams of carbs (hes only supposed to get a total of 37g carbs for dinner... so he was way over). After talking things over with my husband last night, we came to the conclusion that i need to write up his meal plan that we have set in place for Lenny and keep it in his diabetes bag so that she always has it on hand when she goes out. He said, "that way, if this happens again, he can tell her she needs to start paying attention more. That way theres no excuse for these mistakes." I told him, well, she makes mistakes like this even when they are eating at home. I told him thta there was one day when she told me he had 2 pieces of candy sometime throughout the day before afternoon snack. Although it was sugar free candy, it still is high in carbs, and I dont believe she realizes that just because it "says" its sugar free, it doesnt mean its a freebie for his diabetic meal plan. I asked him if he thought we need to go down there and do a refresher course and teach them how to count carbs. It would kill 2 birds with one stone anyway... one, they would learn how to do this stuff better so that his numbers dont stay so high while hes there every weekend, and two, they are going to need to start learning how to count carbs instead of exchanges because when we get him on the pump, they are going to need to know how to do that with the pump. If we teach them how to do it now, then thats less stress on them later when hes ON the pump, then that way, when we get him on the pump, the only thing we have to train them on is how to use the pump itself and the other things that insulin pumps intale. He agreed. I told him that I am NOT going to be the one to mention this to them, that he is going to have to do it because I am already the "bad guy" with everyone in the family as it is. I told him that everytime I say something to them about their mistakes, it comes back to bite me in the butt, or I get comments like "ya know, we can always just bring him home right now", or I manage to hurt someones feelings. Im not going to be put in that situation anymore. He will be the one to deal with his parents mistakes, confront them about them, and teach them correctly. Im done. As hubby said last night " mom seemed to do better about getting his meals and snack portions right better when Lenny was first diagnosed than she does now." and I totally agree with that statement. Like I told him, I understand that she doesnt do it every day like we do, and for the most part this weekend, I'm not overly concerned about it because we have even been having a h ard time getting his levels under control lately. Most of the time, the only time her mistakes really upset me is when we have his numbers mostly under control throughout the week, then we send him down there and he stays high all weekend for her. It upsets me the most then because I KNOW he gets more exercise when hes there than he does here, so the only thing I can think of is either too much food, or too little insulin. Which means, shes either not portioning out his meals and snacks right, or shes not measuring out his insulin dosages right. But, since she has prior experience with dosing insulin because she gives her mom insulin injections... that doesnt make much sense to me either... so it goes back to food portions. I also know that she relies on Lennys word about portions sometimes too much. Like when she first started giving him pop tarts for breakfast. Yes, sometimes I give him a pop tart for breakfast, but I only give him ONE and half a glass of milk. The first time she bought pop tarts for him because I told her that I give them to him sometimes, she asked Lenny how many he is allowed to have, and he (knowing he gets what he wants down there) told her he gets 2... she went against her better judgement, and gave him 2, and by morning snack time, he jumped into the 400s (had a perfect number at breakfast). Then, she called me when she saw the 400 and asked me how many poptarts he was allowed to have, and told me she goofed. Sigh. Anyway, both me and my husband agrees that they need a refresher course on this, so at some point he is going to do that. I dont know when though.

Well, its morning snack time for the kids now, so...

Till next time....

One crazy weekend... pays off.

Ok, so you all know about the school dietician that I had a problem understanding how she was going about counting carbs for Lenny's meals and snacks at school, right?

Well, all weekend I had been losing sleep and stressing BIG TIME over this. We just could not figure out what we should do! So, my husband and I decided that we would mention it to the diabetes educators on monday and see what they thought about it, then call a meeting with the head start coordinator and discuss our concerns, because, to be quite honest with you, by the end of the call when I talked to the school dietician, I didnt feel as if there were going to be any changes made.

So, Monday morning at 9am, I get a phone call... from the Head Start Coordinator! Appearently, after I spoke with the school dietician on Friday, she called the head start coordinator and said she would "no longer be doing Lenny's meal plans". When I heard that, although I found some humor in it because she just gave up on it after my confronting her one time, in a very calm manner, about her mistakes (LOL! Sorry still finding the humor), I was also concerned about where this would hold our future. So, I asked Becky, "so, where do we go from here?" and she said she has been very concerned about this issue all weekend because they need someone there to count the carbs for him. Hes only 4 years old, its not like he can do it himself! And I said I could relate because I have been losing sleep over this all weekend because I thought she was still going to be counting his carbs, and incorrectly at that! She said she had spoke with a couple nurses from other schools about this situation, and they told her that they usually have the parent count the carbs. She said after talking to the staff, and them telling her that everytime I make changes/adjustments to his meals and snacks, his numbers appear to be better than they are when they strictly go according to what the school dietician instructed. She even went as far as to REALLY try to talk me into going to school to be a dietician! LOL, kinda funny if you ask me. She (what sounded to be hesitantly) asked me if I would plan his meals/portions for them, and I said, ya know something... I was actually thinking over the weekend about suggesting that to you lol. Sounding a bit relieved, she asked me if I could get a school order from CHP (Childrens Hospital of Pittsburgh) stating that I am able to do that so that she can put it in his records for when they review his records. I said "Sure! Im actually expecting a phone call from OUR dietician at CHP about all of this sometime this morning, when she calls me back, I will just ask then, if it can wait that long." She said that would be fine. Becky is absolutely awsome. She truely seems to really care about the welfare of the children in her centers. And, anytime I have a complaint... she makes sure it is fixed promptly.

So, later that morning, I get the call from our dietician. I said, "Terri, I am so glad you called." and gave her the schpeel on what conclusions myself and Becky had come up with for this problem and she said "um, ok, do you happen to have Becky's phone number?". I said, yeah, why? She said that there's some legal things she thinks she needs to let Becky know about, because, although I am able to do the carb counting and all for Lenny for the school, if something were to happen at school, it would still hold the school liable because he is on their property at that time. She basically said the school was legally bound to find someone to do the carb counting for them, and that there were grants and things that the school could get to help them pay for the extra help for that. I was not aware of any of this, and honestly, I would feel better if I did the counting anyway, because then I would be sure that it was done right. And, if I made a mistake and something DID happen... and it was because I miscalculated his carb intake, I still wouldnt go trying to sue the school or anything... that would just be wrong!

So anyway, she called Becky sometime later, and told her all about the legal things she needed to tell her, and told her that the concerns I had about the current school dietician were very real concerns and that I had a right to be concerned because She had gone through the meal plan that the school dietician and she saw the same mistakes I had found. Becky told her that as of Friday, that school dietician has been suspended (my guess is that after telling the cooks not to call her with questions and such, and honestly, none of the staff were very happy with the dietician, this was just the straw that broke the camels back when she told Becky she would no longer do Lenny's meal plan). Our dietician told her that if this school dietician cant or wont do her job properly and correctly, then she needs to get rid of that dietician and use the money she was paying that one, to find another one. ( LOL she was straight up with Becky, and to be completely honest with you, I was surprised to hear that one dietician would "go against" ( for lack of a better phrase) another dietician!). Terri said, for a dietician to tell someone not to call her with questions, and to be so very off on many of the portion sizes/carb counts as she was, she did not need to be working there. Becky said "well, this dietician has another full time job that she has to do", and Terri said, " Honestly, I dont care! She is being employed by you to do a job, she is not doing her job properly, so she does not need to be there." (Go Terri! LOL These were our exact thoughts, but we didnt know what we could really do about it!). She told Becky, "all you would really need is to pay a new dietician 6-8 hours worth of work a month to do this", and I said, " honestly Terri, if the new dietician is strictly just counting his carbs and portioning his meals appropriately, it shouldnt even take her 6-8 hours to do it. I did the last half of this month in 2 hours, and thats WITH an almost 4 year old, and a 2 year old running around getting into trouble."

The conclusion....

The school dietician has been suspended after speaking with me on Friday. And, Becky will be finding a new dietician for the school to count carbs so that I dont have to do it (as Terri said to me, "call it a little break if you will" LOL). Now, until they find another dietician to do this, for the next week or so, I will be receiving the names of the brands of food that they use so that I can look up the labels on CalorieKing.com and portion out his meals properly. So, as usual, when I bring up concerns to Becky, things get done promptly!

Go Becky and Go Terri! I love those two ladies!!!

Till next time........

My Apologies, and an update

Hey everyone,

I am so sorry that I have been so behind on updating you all on what is going on with Lenny and Mackenzie. It has been absolutely crazy here since after the holidays and is getting crazier by the day! I don't remember where I left off on telling you about how things are going with the school, so I will just start the update from where we are at today.

At the end of Feb., Lenny had his first A1C test done. I am still waiting to hear what the results were, however, I am thinking I might call Children's Hospital of Pgh. to see if they can tell me what they were.

As far as the school, his teachers were supposed to do a "home visit" early in Feb., however, they never showed for that one. When I called that morning because they didnt show, they told me they werent coming, and didnt have any particular reason as to why (they gave me NO reason). However, they did reschedule it for later in the month (it was actually on the same day as Lennys endo appointment and I was concerned it would take too long and we'd be late for his endo appointment, sigh). They showed up for that one, and basically they just told me he is improving well in school since his diagnosis. It is amazing how diabetes can affect the way a kid learns. His speech is even improving well.

We dont have quite as many issues with the one teacher now (atleast for now lol), however, I do have a BIG issue with the retarded dietician they have working part time for the school. This lady cant even seem to count carbs correctly! Sad thing is, 1) shes a DIETICIAN! She SHOULD know how to count carbs better than ME! 2) She needs to get her act together and learn how to do this stuff properly because this is my sons life shes messing with! No wonder his numbers are ALWAYS crazy when hes at school, but are usually pretty good when hes here.

Now, I have been able to get the School Order adjusted so that I can make changes to his insulin doses as well as meals as I see fit. However, MY dietician from CHP suggested to me that I dont make adjustments to the carb count while he is at school because she feels that would be too many changes at once to see a significant change in his sugar numbers (even though I know how things are affecting Lenny, but hey, if thats what she thinks, fine, I'll roll with it for a bit, then, not next week, but the following week when I call in his numbers, I will make the suggestion myself to the doc lol).

So far, over the last few days, lennys sugar has been running high. Wednesday, he was in the 400s most of the day, with no particular reason, other than the insulin crapping out too soon. Now, on monday, when he was at school, the nurse called me at his afternoon snack time to tell me that he was 54. She told me that he refused to eat lunch, the only thing he ate for lunch that day was the lettuce, and before he went down for lunch, she dosed him 1.5 units (like she was supposed to) because he was 211 then. Then, after he came up from lunch, they gave him the exercise routine they are supposed to (Ill explain the changes with this in a minute), plus the whole class had a LOT of exercise going on in the classroom as well, so with all the exercise Lenny was getting, he was sweating, and the insulin and exercise, and really no lunch combination, no wonder he bottomed out! I told her to give him 2oz of juice, give him 1 full starch exchange (which is another story I will have to tell you about), and he should be fine. If he should be high at dinner time, I can always make adjustments to make things work out. Well, at dinner time, he had a perfect number, so it all worked out well.

The nurse did tell me that she forgot to call me after he ate lunch that day because she had another child in there at the same time, and things got crazy. Being that that was the first day of that new change, as well as a few other changes, I was understanding, but I did tell her to make sure she calls me after lunch next time he refuses to eat so that we can figure out something else that he will eat so that he can get the carbs that he needs for the insulin so he doesnt bottom out again.

Now, The changes with his exercise routine. Up until last friday, they were checking his sugar for afternoon snack at 2:40pm, giving him exercise because he was always high, then sending him down for snack time at 3pm. Well, his lunch time there is from 12:15/12:30ish to 1pm. SO of course he is going to still be pretty high by 2:40pm!! Thats only an hour and 40 minutes after eating! So, I told them instead of doing it that way, when he comes up for lunch, do the exercising right away after lunch, so that he can go ahead and start burning off some of those carbs he's just taken in, then send him to class. At snack time, check his sugar at about 2:50pm to 2:55pm and send him to snack. That way its a more accurate number, and chances are he will be able to have more of a regular snack rather than just veggies all the time. Well, monday was the first time they could do that, and that was all screwed up. Then tuesday he started running high all day. He was high at lunch, and since the dietician thinks 1/2 cup of baked beans is only 1 starch exchange instead of 2, he was still pretty high at afternoon snack, and dinner. Now, I understand that it may depend on HOW the baked beans are being made, but obviously his numbers are showing me that he got 4 starch exchanges that day instead of 3 like he is supposed to. Since then, it has been absolute HELL trying to get his numbers back under control again! Sigh.

Now, thats just ONE screw-up from the dietician. There have been several others as well, including my other reference to his snack on monday:

Monday, when he was 54 at snacktime at school, the cook called me and told me that the dietician wrote down and told them that only 4 teddy graham crackers equals 1/2 starch exchange. LOL When I told MY dietician that, she was like "oh really?" Then she said, well, unless they are using a kind that I am not aware of... 4 teddy graham crackers are only 1/4 starch exchange. Um, yeah, thats kinda what I thought too! Anyway, when the cook told me that, I said, "no, 4 teddy graham crackers are 1/4 starch exchange, 8 teddy graham crackers are 1/2 starch exchange, and 16 teddy graham crackers are 1 full starch exchange." So I told her since hes low, have him drink 2 oz of milk, and give him a total of 16 teddy graham crackers and he should be fine. Well, it turned out well because by dinner time at 5:30pm that night, he had a great number.

Oh, and check this out! Ok, many of you know that Lenny's birthday is next month, and he will be turning 4 years old. The other day, he told me "Mom, Lenny has Type 1 Diabetes, Pap Pap and Grandma Sylvie have Type 2 Diabetes". OMG I was blown away! How does an almost 4 year old KNOW SO MUCH?!?! LOL. He is so smart about his diabetes, what he can and cant have, how he feels, etc. That same day, later that night, I had his meter and lancing device ready and waiting for him to finish going potty. They were sitting on the kitchen table, and while he was pottying, I was picking up the living room a bit and changing Mackenzie's diaper. He comes trotting out of the bathroom, closes the door, sits down at the table, and checks his own sugar!! The only thing I had to do to help him was remind him to push the test strip in all the way before putting blood in it! OMG! LOL. I mean, he went step by step the same way me and daddy do it! Wiped his finger with the alcohol filled paper towel, blew his finger off, poked his finger with the lancing device, squeezed out a little blood, wiped off the first bit of blood with a dry paper towel, squeezed out a little more blood, I reminded him to push in the test strip into the meter all the way and wait for the blood symbol to appear, he put the meter/test strip up to the blood drop all by himself, wiped off the excess blood from his finger and waited till it stopped bleeding, and looked at his number! OMG OMG OMG! Hes getting tooooo big and tooooo smart! LOL That day, the knowledge he showed me absolutely floored me! So now, I have been letting him do it himself (with some assistance) more often.

LOL Next step... he will wanna do his own shots! LOL. Wonder how long thats gonna take lol.

Anyway, that is all the updates I can think of right now. I will let you all know what his A1C test results were and how they compared to what they were at diagnosis as well as what normal levels are and the goal range for them for diabetic kids.

Till next time....

My kids are total goofballs... but I love them so much!

Ok,this happened just before bedtime snack time tonight.

Have you ever seen ICarly on Nickelodeon? If so, have you ever seen the episode where her grandfather threatens that she will be moving to Yakima with him because he thinks her brother is too immature and irresponsible to take care of her, and Carly starts kind of rebel, but in the end, she gets to stay? Well, ya know how they all start lifting their shirts, rubbing their bellies, and making silly noices?

As soon as my daughter saw that... SHE STARTED DOING IT! Then my son followed in her footsteps! It was SOOOOO FUNNY and SoOOOOO CUTE!!! I just had to share that with you all! I wish I got it on video... but I can promise you this much... if they do it again, I am TOTALLY pulling out the camera and recording that to share!

On another note...

Lenny's blood sugars haven't been doing too hot lately. He's been having a lot more highs than usual over the last week. When I spoke with the Diabetes Educators on Tuesday (because the butthole doctor that was on call on Monday never did call me back like he was SUPPOSED TO) about his numbers, he had just come back home from his grandparents house the night before, and he had been high the entire time while there (as usual). She said since he always goes high at their house, she wasnt going to even take into consideration his numbers from the weekend, and to call her back on Friday to give her a good few days to go on. So, I called back this morning, and told them, well, his numbers have come down somewhat since hes been home for a while, but hes still running high quite a bit. I asked them, instead of changing *doses* on his insulin, can we just change the vile itself. I told her it doesnt seem like the insulin is lasting the full 28 days it is supposed to last. Over the last 3 months, we have noticed it starts going back a good week and a half to 2 weeks before it is supposed to. We were supposed to change his insulin vial tomorrow anyway, so I asked if we could just change it a day early, and then review how it has affected his numbers on Tuesday when he has his appointment. She said that was fine. So that is what we are doing. Tuesday, he will have his "quarterly" A1C test done, to see how well his diabetes is being controlled. At his last appointment, when we were just doing basically like a follow up with the educator, she said based on his numbers, she thinks his A1C test will come back in probably the 7 or 8th percentile... which would be great.... however, I have a different feeling on that. I dont think it will be that good. Guess we will find out soon enough!

Both kids still have a cold. Yes, I know that colds can have an affect on his numbers, but, I dunno, I strongly feel it is the insulin.

I was supposed to volunteer at his school today, but they asked me to come in on Monday instead since there is only going to be one person (the secretary) there that is able to do what needs to be done with his diabetes. Although I am still questioning what the major problem is up there, I agreed and asked my inlaws to take my daughter. The thing that bothers me about this is, I just asked the secretary on Tuesday how she felt about everything, and she said she was comfortable with it... but now shes saying she would be more comfortable if I were there on Monday since she will be the only one there. I dunno. I kinda feel like they are not being completely honest with me about all of this. I truely hope the head lady did tell them that I will not be the one to do his shots and checks even while I am there. I just hope they understand that, that is out of the question.

The kids got to talk to my mother tonight for a few minutes. They seemed to enjoy it, as did my mom and her husband.

I found this really great recipe book at Walmart today that is full of diabetic recipes! Im so excited, I cant wait to try some out!!! Some of them look really yummy!

Well, it is time to start the bedtime routine. I will catch up with you all later

Till next time...
